South Bridge Road with the twin minareted towers of the Jamae Mosque, and the ornate Gopuram of the Sri Mariamman Temple, here blocked by a tree. The early camera's inability to capture moving objects is aptly captured in this photograph. The main thoroughfare of Chinatown is deserted but for the blurred figures on the right and center, and what looks like traces of a bullock cart behind on the left of the road.
