Ginger Flower ~ Year 1863

SGD 48.80

The Ginger Flower is a perennial plant that is both consumed and cultivated for decoration. Its taste is quite unique and sharp, similar but also distinct from ginger. Used in soups, sauces, and sambals, the flower is commonly harvested when the buds are still closed. As a decorative plant, it is much admired for the intricate and vivid petals. This image was originally published in Belgium in the year 1863 by Berthe van Nooten, as one of a series of forty Southeast Asian botanical lithographs depicting fruits and flowers.
