Called nangka in Indonesian the Artocarpus Polyphema is a widely-eaten fruit in the Indies. Jackfruit is eaten in both ripe and unripe forms, by itself, in curries, or in desserts. The unripe fruit has a texture similar to meat when stewed and is gaining popularity among vegetarians worldwide.
